W. "Jean" Thorne

August 8, 1933 — January 26, 2023

W. “Jean” Sell Thorne, 89, resident of Rolling Green Village in Greenville and wife of the Rev. Jack Harris Thorne passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023.

 

Born in Salem, OH she was a daughter of the late William and Pauline Hull Sell, and married her high school sweetheart, Jack.  They had three sons, Brad, Bart, and Bryce.  Jean was a member of Fellowship Greenville. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, known for her love, warmth, laughter, and her strong faith. 

 

Jean lived in Ohio, Massachusetts (Quincy area), Pennsylvania (Media), Connecticut and South Carolina.  She enjoyed spending retirement years with her beloved husband, friends, and family at their summer cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee, NH.  She loved to ride in the boat and to swim at the sandbar on the lake.  She very much enjoyed southern living.  

 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by: her sons Brad Thorne (Anke) of Quincy, MA, Bart Thorne (Cindy) of Irmo and Bryce Thorne (Susan) of Gray Court; sister, Joan Bentley (Eldon) of Simpsonville; grandchildren, Ryan Thorne (Katie), Courtney Bragg (AJ), Taylor Attridge (Andrew), Lauren Thorne, Maddie Gilbert (Preston), and Rebecca Thorne; four great grandchildren and one on the way.

 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a great grandchild.

 

A Celebration of Life service will be held later.
