Simon Derrick

MSGT Simon Henry Derrick, Jr., 85, formerly of Indian Mound Road and husband of the late Daisy Nelson Derrick passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018.Born in Saluda County, he was the son of the late Simon Henry Derrick, Sr. and Alberta Miller Chambers. Retired from the U.S. Air Force, MSGT Derrick served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He also retired from Carolina Manufacturing and attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.Surviving are his children, Pamela Anne Knight (Mark) of Columbia and Bruce Wayne Derrick (Jennifer Thompson) of Piedmont; step-children, Susan Lollis (Jerry) of Simpsonville, Cathy Leming (Richard) of Kingsport, TN, and Thomas McMahan, Jr. (Pam) of Laurens; step-sisters, Janet Chambers and Vivian Chambers both of Batesburg; grandchildren, Jessica Blake (Josh) and Korin Rogerson (Andrew); great grandchildren, Joey Blake, John McQuade Blake and Porter Rogerson.Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, March 9, 2018, at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Paula Houston. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary one hour prior to the service.The family would like to thank Nellie Hess for her loving care of MSGT Derrick.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 301 University Ridge, #5000, Greenville, SC 29601.
