Sara King WassonHickory TavernSara King Wasson, 97, wife of the late James D. Wasson, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at home surrounded by her family.She was born in the Fork Shoals community of Greenville County. Her parents were the late John Washington and Carrie Woodson King.She attended Asheville Teachers College. She was a member of Friendship Presbyterian Church in Hickory Tavern for 77 years. Sara's love for the Lord and her faith were evident in her daily walk with Him. She was given different gifts: hosting home Bible studies, a prayer warrior, and helping others. All of which she did for His honor and glory. She will be remembered for her delicious meals, her beautiful flower gardens, and her devotion to her family.She is survived by a son, James David Wasson, Jr. and wife Ann Wasson; and a daughter, Sylvia Wasson Wells and husband Ed Wells. She was lovingly known as GrandSara to five grandchildren, Sonya Croker (Todd), Ashley Clark (Frank), Sheri Fleeman (Kirk), Jim Wasson (Mary Pat), and Aimee Garrett (Hunter) and fourteen great-grandchildren, Sara Kalyn, Wells, and Patton Croker, Brenden, Madison, and Morgan Clark, Avery Ali-Grace and Anna Camille Fleeman, Kendall and Parker Wasson, and Rhett, Mary Hunter and Hampton Garrett.She was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph King, Sr. and Norman King and two sisters, Edna King Frasier and Frances King Wasson.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Friendship Presbyterian Church, conducted by Dr. Robert Cathcart with burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.Memorials may be made to Friendship Presbyterian Church Cemetery Association, 2094 Neely Ferry Road, Laurens, SC 29360.The family would like to thank Ada Young, Ann Pinson, and Hospice of Laurens County for their loving care given to GrandSara.Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.thekennedymortuary.com.
