Ruby “Guynelle” Montjoy, age 91, of Laurens, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at her home.

Born in Joanna (Goldville), she was a daughter of the late Cecil A. and Ruby Sumeral Montjoy.  Guynelle was never married or had children of her own, but she helped raise her nieces, nephews, and many neighborhood kids by feeding them, encouraging them, and disciplining them when needed.  She loved working puzzles and reading her Bible daily.  She enjoyed dogs, especially chihuahuas.  Guynelle also liked working outside in her flowers and cooking.

Surviving are her nieces and nephew, Thomas Marion “Tommy” Hartline (Ginger), Tammy Snead (John), and Deborah “Debbie” King and many loving great-nieces and great-nephews including Chris Staggs, who was a caregiver to her.

In addition to her parents, Guynelle was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Betty Jo Montjoy; her sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Joe Hartline; her nephew, Wayne Montjoy, Jr; and her nephew by marriage, Larry “Rabbit” King.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. JD Putman, Jr.  Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.

The family will be at the home of her niece, Debbie King.

Visitation will be held at the cemetery immediately following the committal.
