Roy Vincent MimsLaurensRoy Vincent Mims, 90, of 613 Church St. and husband of the late Jean Bolt Mims, passed away at his home, Thursday, May 11, 2017.Born in Wattsville, he was the son of the late Roy Parker and Andrella Cogsdill Mims. He was a WW II U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Mims was retired from the Laurens City Fire Department, was a Shriner, and was a member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church.He is survived by: his sons, Tony V. Mims and wife Ann Smyly Mims of Chapin and Parker B. Mims and wife Lynn Frady Mims of Waterloo; a sister, Sig Jackson of Laurens; grandchildren, Lauren Mims Stellfox (Stephen), Parker Bolt Mims, Jr., Caroline Mims Cato (Cory), and Erin Mims Bruns (Graham); great grandchildren, Gracie Ann Culley, Charlee Cato, and Hutchins Bruns.In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Mims was predeceased by a grandson, Casey Vincent Mims.Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday, May 13, 2017, at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. David Bonner with private burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary on Saturday, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Burned Children's Fund, c/o MUSC Children's Health, 169 Ashley Ave., 543 NT, MSC 355, Charleston, SC 29425; Laurens County Cancer Assoc., 1337 Medical Ridge Rd., Clinton, SC 29325; or to Comfort Care Hospice, 403 North Lake Dr., Lexington, SC 29072.Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.thekennedymortuary.com.
