Rev. Reginal A. HillLaurensRev. Reginal A. Hill passed away on Thursday morning, July 27, 2017, at his home in Laurens, SC, following a long, valiant battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born November 6, 1928, the son of the late Joseph Allen Hill, Sr. and Quilla Amelia Still of Barnwell County, SC. He was predeceased by brothers Thomas and Jack, sister Thelma, and half-brother Charles. Reggie is survived by his wife, the former Mary Ellen Kemp of Blackville, SC; their daughters Rebecca Weaver of Kingsland, GA; Bonnie Galloway (Greg) of Woodbine, GA; Barbara Pickens (Kevin) of Piedmont, SC and son Rev. Benjamin Hill (Debbie) of Fountain Inn, SC; grandsons Aaron, Heath, Daniel, Clay, and Barrett; granddaughters Kylie (Mark), Brittany (Nathan), Sadie (fiancé Daniel), Riley, and Scarlett; great grandson Lee, great granddaughter RoseEllen and half brother Lewis.Reginal served in Germany in the US Army during the Korean War. Following his discharge he attended USC under the GI Bill earning a BA in English. He married his wife after his sophomore year and upon graduation enrolled in Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, earning his M.Div. degree in 1960. He passionately loved his Lord, Jesus Christ, as he pastored churches in Virginia and South Carolina prior to appointment by the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. As Missionary Church Planter he served in Trinidad and Bermuda, followed by a year of volunteer ministry in Barbados for a total of 26 years. After retirement he served as pastor for a church in Fountain Inn, SC. His second retirement gave opportunity to serve as Interim Pastor for several churches in the Low Country of SC. His last years were spent in Independent Living at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community in Laurens, where he was a member of the First Baptist Church.Wherever he lived, served, or visited, Reginal was universally loved. He is remembered as a gentle, loving, and compassionate soul and will be greatly missed by many.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Benjamin Hill, Rev. Rickey Letson, Dr. Lawton Neely, and Mrs. Barbi Pickens with burial in Graceland East Memorial Park with Military Honors.The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary, Saturday, July 29, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention: IMB, Attn: Development, P.O.
