Morris David Leister

January 23, 1935 — January 11, 2019

Morris David Leister, age 83, of Greenwood, and husband of Mary Edna Burns Leister, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019, at Hospice Care of the Piedmont in Greenwood.Born in Cramerton, NC, he was a son of the late Lerlie David and Rella Mae Thomas Leister. Morris was a graduate of University of South Carolina and worked with Parke Davis in Greenwood for almost 25 years before retiring from Kemet Electronics in Mauldin. He was a member of New Market Baptist Church in Greenwood.Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Mary Elizabeth Leister Welborn and husband David of Tulsa, OK, and David Burns Leister and wife Sharon of Easley, SC; one brother, Harold D. Leister of Gilroy, CA; one sister, Jane L. Orgel and husband Jim of Bladenboro, NC; and three grandchildren, Amanda W. Kinsch and husband Cody, Travis Welborn, and Matthew David Leister.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Stanley Sprouse. Private burial will be held in Highland Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Gray Court, SC.The family will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel immediately following the service on Sunday.Memorials may be made to New Market Baptist Church, 906 Ninety Six Highway, Greenwood, SC 29646.
