Minnie Irvin DavisLaurensMinnie Irvin Davis, 85, and wife of the late Maxie Lee Davis, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016, at her home.Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late John Calhoun and Nannie Harris Irvin. A retired cosmetologist, Mrs. Davis was the owner of Minnie's Beauty Shop for over 50 years. She was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church and the Chestnut Ridge Golden Chestnuts.She is survived by: her children, Kim Johnson (David) of Laurens, Maxine Murphy (Joseph) of Laurens, Eric Davis (Charlene) of Hickory Tavern, and Irvin Davis of Atlanta; grandchildren, Theresa Johnson, Freddy Johnson (Stefanie), Jennifer Bryson (Heath), Brittany Murphy, Bradley Murphy (Jennie), Blake Davis (Dabs), Matthew Davis, Coleman Davis, and Bryson Davis; great grandchildren, Katelyn May, Aidan Johnson, Sawyer Davis, and Peyton Bryson; siblings, Betty Abrams (Kennon) of Ware Shoals and John Irvin (Joyce) of Laurens; sisters-in-law, Ruby Armstrong of Laurens, Beatrice Poole of Moore, and Sara Maude Templeton of Gray Court; brothers-in-law, James Harold Davis of Laurens and Rufus Davis of Gray Court; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband and parents, she was pre-deceased by: sisters, Harriett Irvin and Sara Satterfield and husband, Ernest Satterfield.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Alex Henderson and Rev. Tony E. Crouch with burial in the church cemetery.The family will be at the home and will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, November 29, 2016.Memorials may be made to The Golden Chestnuts or to the Renew Program at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, 499 Chestnut Ridge Rd.
