Mrs. Washington was my 9th grade English teacher at Woodruff Junior High School and was one of the best teachers I ever had. She wore us out with homework and diagramming sentences, but she also introduced us to Shakespeare and poetry. What a triumphant live to live to age 95! We will miss her and will always be thankful for her. Thanks to her family for sharing her with so many students through the years.

I had Mrs. Washington at Woodruff in 1978. She was hilarious! I remember sitting in her class and she called me to her desk. I wondered what I had done this time. She opens her desk and takes out a pair of scissors and says I need for you to give me a hair cut. Me: Mrs. Washington I cant cut your hair! Her: just trim it up a little. That was my beautician of a lifetime moment. When I finished, she looked in the mirror, smiled and said thank you! She was an awesome lady. My condolences to her family.
