Lonnie GriffinGray CourtLonnie Griffin, 73, of 3591 Hellams Rd. and husband of Viola Brooks Griffin, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Laurens Memorial Hospital.Born in Laurens, he was a son of the late Clyde and Ellen Smith Griffin. A veteran of the S.C. National Guard, he graduated from Ford High School and retired from J.D. Hollingsworth after 35 years. He was also a member of Standing Springs Baptist Church in Simpsonville.In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his children, Dean Griffin and wife Cindy of Simpsonville and Sharon Beeks and husband Michael of Rock Hill; grandchildren, Ashlyn Griffin, Kayleigh Beeks, and Kaden Beeks; siblings, Gene Griffin and wife Joyce of McDonough, GA, Tony Griffin and wife Missy of Simpsonville, Betty Tollison and husband Charles of Laurens, Mary Raines of Laurens, and Joan Rook of Laurens; and mother-in-law, Clara Brooks of Laurens.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by: his siblings, Charles E. Griffin, Henry C. Griffin, Ethel G. Taylor, Nancy G. Davis and Patsy G. Reece.Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Standing Springs Baptist Church in Simpsonville conducted by Rev. Michael Beeks, Rev. Matthew Smith and Rev. Chris Henderson with burial in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary on Monday, January 22, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and also immediately following the committal in the church fellowship hall.The family will be at the home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105; or to Standing Springs Baptist Church, 1111 W.
