Robert Lewis TaylorLaurensRobert Lewis Taylor, 90, of 6841 Neely Ferry Rd. and husband of the late Helen Cooper Taylor, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016, at Laurens County Hospital.Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Robert Richard and Sara Parsons Taylor. A W.W. II U.S. Army veteran, he was formerly employed with Laurens Mill and retired from Wilson's Sporting Goods. Mr. Taylor was a member of Union Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. A former mason and Lions Club member, he was instrumental in starting the Ekom Beach Fire Dept., serving on the board of directors for many years.He is survived by: his daughter, Kathryn T. Vinson and husband Robert of Laurens; a sister, Betty T. Musser and husband Arthur of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Robby Vinson and wife JJ, Phillip Vinson and wife Christy, Chad Vinson and wife Michelle, and Corey Vinson and wife Amber all of Laurens; 10 great grandchildren; and 2 great, great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 21, 2016, at Union Baptist Church, followed by interment with military honors in the church cemetery.Pallbearers will be Michael, Chris, Austin, Zach, Lane, Justin, and Lakota.The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary on Thursday, October 20, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.Memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church Gym Fund or to the Youth Fund, 536 Old Quaker Church Rd, Laurens, SC 29360.Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.thekennedymortuary.com.
