Lawson A. Hall, Jr., 84, of 101 Colonial Acres Road and husband of 59 years to Sally Sue Philpot Hall, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019, at Laurens County Hospital.Born in Greenville, he was the son of Lawson and Alma McCallum Hall. He graduated from Berea High School in 1954 and then from Clemson University in 1958, with a degree in Textile Management. He joined the US Army Reserve and completed boot camp at Fort Jackson, before marrying Sally in 1960. They made their home in Laurens, while he served in the U.S. Army Reserve and began working in human resources. Throughout his career, he held positions at J.P. Stevens, 3M, General Electric, and Clinton Mills. He retired in 2000. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Laurens, where he served as a deacon, choir member, and member of the Bobby Smith Sunday School class. Lawson was also a member and past president of the Laurens Lion's Club.Lawson loved his family, Clemson football, and telling a good story. He lived a life full of love and laughter.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Rev. Phil Hall of Laurens, SC, Susan Hall Culbertson and husband Cubby of Columbia, SC, and Steven Hall and wife Natalie of Houston, TX.He is also survived by grandchildren: Daniel Hall and wife Sarah of Greenville, SC, Madison Hall of Charlotte, NC, Helen-Grace Hall and fiancé Tanner Scott of Laurens, SC, Austin Hubbard and husband Lefty of Columbia, SC, Chandler Culbertson and wife Caroline of Columbia, SC, Tyler Yuhas and husband Andrew of Columbia, SC, Michael Culbertson of Columbia, SC, Annie Culbertson of Columbia, SC, Emma Hall and fiancé Gabe Cruz of Houston, TX, Davis Hall of Houston, TX, and Song Hall of Houston, TX. He is survived by brothers Homer Hall, Bobby Hall and wife Dale, a sister, Ann Lowry and husband Tom, and brother-in-law Roy Satterfield, all of Greenville, SC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings Claude Hall, Ola Mae Satterfield, Roy Hall, and Lucille Watson.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at First Baptist Church, Laurens, SC, conducted by the Reverend Rickey Letson.
