Joe Chabra, age 93, of 154 Ivey Bluff Road, and husband of 69 years to Patsy Looper Chabra, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021.
He was born in Portage, Pennsylvania and was a son of the late Nicholas and Helen Chabra.
Joe was a WWII Veteran, having joined the Merchant Marines at age 16 to serve his country in wartime on the Liberty Ships. He was later Airman First Class in the Air Force.
He was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church of Waterloo and was a service manager at Addressograph Multigraph of Greenville, SC for most of his career.
Joe was a Shriner and hospital guide for the Shriner’s Hospital in Greenville for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by, his daughter Linda Van Gieson (David) of Mauldin, his son, Joe Chabra (Kimberly) of Waterloo; his brother, Steve Chabra of Northfield, OH, his sister, Jean Campbell of Saint Petersburg, FL; three grandchildren, Nicole Kazmaski (Sheldon) of Waterloo, Mae Phelps (Jordan) of Dalton, Georgia, and Lauren Anthony (Chas) of Simpsonville; great-grandchildren, Rowen Kazmarski, Vera Kazmarski, Josephine Kazmarski, Sage Phelps, Juna Phelps, Evelyn Joe Anthony, and Trace Anthony.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Mary DiLillo, John Chabra, Nicholas Chabra, Helen Motil, Michael Chabra, George Chabra.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Rosemont Baptist Church with burial in Rosemont Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rosemont Baptist Church Children Ministry, 2267 Dillard Road, Waterloo, SC 29384.
