Lanier passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at his home.Born in Gaffney, SC, he was the son of the late J.D. and Betty Jo Lanier. Jimmy retired from Byars Machine Shop, attended Hillcrest Baptist Church, and loved his Clemson Tigers.Surviving in addition to his wife are: daughter, Amanda Davis of Spartanburg; step-daughters, Ella Marie Owings of Laurens and Crystal Marie Simmons of TN; granddaughter, Brittany Humphries of Laurens; sisters, Dennie Cole of Gaffney and Kathy Pierce of Blacksburg; daughter-in-law, Jessica Humphries of Fountain Inn; sister-in-law, Libby Hudson (Danny) of Laurens; special friends, Marie Owings of Laurens and Danny and Malissa Crocker of Laurens.Mr. Lanier was predeceased by his sons, Brian Humphries and Bobby Humphries.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev.
