James Richard Wellman, Sr.ClintonJames Richard Wellman, Sr, age 72, of 238 Forest Road, and husband of Barbara Benjamin Wellman, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Hospice of Laurens County Hospice House.Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas Huffman and Edith Sain Wellman. Mr. Wellman was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a retired truck driver with International Paper.Surviving in addition to his wife are his son, James "Jay" Richard Wellman, Jr. and wife Constance of Waterloo; grandchildren, Taylor Riser and Katie Wellman; sisters, Robbie Yarborough and husband Sammy of Lancaster, and Betty W. Moore of Lancaster.In addition to his parents, Mr. Wellman was predeceased by a sister, Barbara W. Ervin.Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 7, 2018, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Laurens.The family will be at the home and will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the graveside service.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Laurens County, PO Box 178, Clinton, SC 29325.Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.thekennedymortuary.com.
