James Edwin "Jim" WatkinsGray CourtJames Edwin "Jim" Watkins, 78, of 1325 Lakeview Dr. and husband of the late Delores Harrod Watkins, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018, at his home.Born in Gray Court, he was a son of the late Sloan Watkins and Bruce Watkins Heaton. He served in the U.S. Air Force, retired from the U.S. Army Reserves, and was a Vietnam veteran. Mr. Watkins was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Ft. Inn, where he served as a deacon.He is survived by his children, Dee Ann Watkins Wood and husband Keith of Gray Court and Patrice Watkins Parker and husband Robert of Hoover, AL; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Watkins of Gulf Shores, AL; a brother, Curtis Watkins and wife Polly of Chelsea, AL; grandchildren, Sydney W. McGhee (Chase), Brynn E. Parker, and Avery K. Wood; and a great grandchild, Richard Lane McGhee.In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by: a son, Richard Elton Watkins.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 12, 2018, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Ralph Carter with burial in Shiloh UMC Cemetery with Full Military Honors.The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church one hour prior to the service.Memorials may be made to Shiloh UMC Cemetery Fund, 1585 Neely Ferry Rd., Laurens, SC 29360.Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.thekennedymortuary.com.
