Marion Gene Hornsby, 77, of 12986 Neely Ferry Road and husband of Nancy Bagwell Hornsby, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.Born in Clinton, he was a son of the late Lionel Leo and Thelma Stone Hornsby. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was retired from Torrington, was a member of Second Baptist Church, and the Laurens Baptist Association Disaster Relief Team.In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his children, Alisa Jean Hornsby Jeffords and husband Mark of Simpsonville and George Richards Hornsby and wife Susan of Hickory Tavern; brothers, Olin Wayne Hornsby of Nevada, and James Agustas Hornsby of Laurens; sisters, Ann Hornsby King and Judith Hornsby Mims both of Clinton; grandchildren, Lauren Nicole Jeffords Atkins and husband Joel of Fountain Inn, Ashley Marie Jeffords of Simpsonville, Hannah Grace Jeffords of Simpsonville, Carlee Elizabeth Hornsby of Hickory Tavern, and Emma Grace Hornsby of Hickory Tavern.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Lionel Leo Hornsby, Jr. and William Leroy Hornsby.Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday June 30, 2018, at Second Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. J.D. Shiflet, Rev. Billy Cathcart, and Rev. Bill Quarles with burial in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors.The family will be at the home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richard M.
