Douglas TaylorLaurensDouglas Taylor, age 73, of 100 Pamela Lane, and husband of Elaine Abercrombie Taylor, passed away on August 2, 2017, at his home.Born in Walhalla, he was a son of the late Ira and Ruby Towe Taylor. Doug was retired from Watts Mill and was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Greenwood. He was a well-known carburetor builder and "Boss-man" at D & J Carburetors. He built carbs for many dirt track and drag racing engines. Doug was the 2014 Track Champion at Union County Dragway at the age of 70. He was very kind hearted and loved to help others every chance he had.Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Jeff Taylor and wife Cindy of Laurens, and Jason Taylor and fiancé Danielle Harrison of Abbeville; one brother, Joe Taylor and wife Dianne of Orlando, FL; one granddaughter, Abigale Taylor of Simpsonville; 5 step-grandchildren, Erica, Paige, Angel, Lizzie, and Christopher Harrison; one step great-grandchild, Ella Harrison; and his grand-dog, CJ.In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by a sister, Frances Moore.A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, August 4, 2017, at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Allen Simpson and Rev. A.L. Tumblin. A private burial will be held in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
