David Putnam Collins

Cross Hill

David P. Collins, 89, devoted husband of Patsy Ruth Weathers Collins, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 7, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at his home.

Born in Gray Court, SC, David was the son of the late James Thomas and Catherine Putnam Collins.

David was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved nature and the outdoors and found joy in the simple things of life. He enjoyed sharing those things with his loved ones.

David and Patsy shared 72 years of marriage. David taught that faith in God and love of family are the most important things in life. He said he hoped he left this world a little better than when he came into it. His legacy of loving God and family will be carried on by his four children; Kathy Collins Coker, Diann Collins, Ronnie Collins, Roger Collins, nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Forest Lawn Cemetery conducted by Rev. Fred Lyda and Chaplain Dale Martin. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the graveside service.

The family will be at the home of his son, Roger Collins, 326 Shrine Club Road, Greenwood, SC 29649.
