Charles Wyatt Hester, Sr., 86, of 144 Spring Rd. and husband of the late Betty Jean Berryhill Hester, passed away, Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at his home. Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Ossie Wavel and Viola Bentley Hester. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a 1962 graduate of Clemson University, was a retired engineer with Milliken, and was the owner of Hester Construction, Inc. He was a member of First Baptist Church and attended Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.He is survived by: a daughter, Pamela Hester Gibbs and husband William Herschel "Bill" Gibbs, Jr. of Laurens; grandchildren, William Jason Gibbs and wife Christa, Jeremy Todd Gibbs and wife Michelle, and Lauren Hester Cartee and husband Travis; great grandchildren, Abigail Bailey Gibbs, Mason Todd Gibbs, William Jason Gibbs, Jr., and Ryan Elizabeth Gibbs; a daughter-in-law, Melinda Balch Hester; and a sister, Viola Hester Franks of Greenville.In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by: a son, Charles W. "Chuck" Hester, Jr.; brothers, Avery, Ossie, and Mark Hester; sisters, Hortense Hester Rich and Grace Hester Massey.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, September 3, 2017, at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel, conducted by Rev. Alex D.
