William N. "Billy" OwingsLaurensWilliam N. "Billy" Owings, age 84, of 206 Woodbluff Road, and husband of Joan Curry Owings, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Hospice of Laurens County Hospice House.Born in Laurens, he was a son of the late Hicks F. and Carrie Burns Owings. Billy retired from First Union Bank and was a member of First Baptist Church and of the Bobby Smith Sunday School Class. He was a Mason with Palmetto Lodge #19 and a Shriner with the Hejaz Temple with 50 years of service.Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Jeff Owings (Marlene) of Laurens, Jeral Rushton Johnson (W.A.) of Winston Salem, NC, Gail Rushton Garrett (Susan Sutton) of Boiling Springs, SC and Vicki Taylor Flanagan of Greer; brothers, Jim Owings (Barbara) of Clinton and Robert Owings (Joyce) of Laurens; grandchildren, Will Owings, Ben Owings (Ellison), Erin Owings (Tori Patterson), Meredith Bryant (Shannon), Derek Taylor (Austin), Audrey Thomason, and Katie Garrett; and 7 great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Noffz Owings; sisters, Sara Katherine Knight, Elizabeth Hill and Estelle Kirby; brother, Charles H. Owings; and a grandson, Joshua Mitchell.Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 25, 2017, at First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Rickey Letson and Rev. Phil Hall.
