Name: Doris Self Date: August 3rd, 1930 - February 4th, 2010 Obituary: Doris Robertson Self, 79, of 215 McDowell St., wife of Arthur V. Self, Sr., passed away Thursday, February 04, 2010, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of the late James T. and Pearly Mae Pressley Robertson. She retired from Torrington and Wal-Mart. Mrs. Self was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, the Ruth Casey Sunday School Class, a former Trustee of the church, President of the United Methodist Women, and member of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. Surviving in addition to her husband are one son, Vernon Self and wife Liz of Laurens; two daughters, Lynn Self Riddle and Wanda Self Fulmer both of Laurens; one brother, William P. “Billy” Robertson of Laurens; three grandchildren, Brent Riddle, Keila Taylor, and Keslyn F. Mendez; and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Tyler Fulmer; a brother, Charles Robertson; and sister, Brenda Robertson Fulmer. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 6, 2010, at St. James United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Charlie Short with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the home of her son, 3171 Highway 49. and will receive friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service.
